Shepherd's Heart Counseling, PLLC is a solo private practice run by John C. Murphy, MA, LCMHC. Fees are kept simple and transparent so you can plan for care without surprises.
Session fees
- Initial intake (90 minutes) — clinical assessment and treatment plan: $195
- Individual treatment session (50 minutes): $155
Payment is due at time of service. Card, HSA, and FSA are accepted.
Insurance
Shepherd's Heart Counseling is in-network with Aetna and Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. If you carry either plan, your cost is your plan's copay or coinsurance rather than the full session fee.
If you are out-of-network, you can pay the session fee directly and file with your carrier for reimbursement. If your plan offers out-of-network mental health benefits, ask them about coverage for CPT codes 90791 (intake) and 90834 (45–50 minute psychotherapy). If you're out-of-network, superbills can be provided so you can file for reimbursement with your carrier.
Medicaid and Medicare are not accepted.
Cancellation policy
Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, and no-shows, are billed at $100. That fee can be avoided by rebooking later in the same week.
Good Faith Estimate
Under the federal No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a written Good Faith Estimate of expected charges for services when you are not using insurance. John provides one at intake and any time you request it.
